Crowns

A crown is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape and colour of your own natural tooth.

At SE1 Dental Centre, we use three different types of crowns, Lava crowns, Procera crowns and Cosmetic crowns, each with a different kind of coping (core):

 

• Lava: all-ceramic zirconia
• Procera: densley sintered aluminium oxide (also a ceramic material)
• Cosmetic: metal

 

Lava and Procera copings are light-transmissive, which makes the crown extremely natural looking. The metal coping of the Cosmetic crown gives it a more opaque appearance. All three types of crown have a porcelain layer on the outside.
